Ongwe Minerals Discovers New Multi-Kilometer Gold Anomaly in Namibia
Ongwe Discovers New Gold Anomaly in Namibia

Ongwe Minerals Inc. (TSXV: OGW) has announced the discovery of a significant new gold-in-soil anomaly at its Omatjete Gold Project in Namibia. The anomaly, named Nguni, extends over 5 kilometers in strike length and remains open to the north, east, and west.

Key Highlights of the Discovery

  • The Nguni anomaly is located 17 kilometers from Ongwe's existing Manga gold discovery and 55 kilometers from Wia Gold's 2.93 million-ounce Kokoseb project.
  • Soil samples have assayed up to 730 parts per billion (ppb) gold, with multi-kilometer trends exceeding 100 ppb gold.
  • The mineralization appears to be concentrated within metasediments near granitic contacts, similar to the Kokoseb deposit.
  • The anomaly was identified using Ongwe's proprietary detectORE system.

CEO Remarks

Dave Underwood, CEO of Ongwe, stated: "The newly discovered Nguni prospect is the biggest gold-in-soil anomaly I have seen in Namibia since first embarking on exploration here in 2008. This surface gold discovery is just 17km from our Manga gold discovery and 55km from Wia Gold's 2.93Moz Kokoseb gold project, all associated with the same structural trend. The tenor of the gold anomaly is very impressive, with twenty-eight samples assaying above 300ppb Au and eight above 500ppb Au so far."

Regional Significance

Following the identification of the Okondeka Fault Zone, Ongwe has refined its target generation and recognized the importance of late granitic intrusions controlling the fault system. The faults propagate within corridors of Kuiseb schists that wrap around brittle leucogranites. A recent regional soil sampling campaign over prospective structures led to the discovery of this large gold-in-soil anomaly.

Next Steps

The company is currently conducting infill mapping and sampling to accurately define the mineralization footprint for a drill program scheduled to start in the second half of 2026. The Nguni prospect remains open to the north, east, and west, and Ongwe is optimistic about expanding the mineralization.

Underwood added: "This discovery validates our faith in the Omatjete Gold Project, and we look forward to developing the Nguni and Manga targets while continuing grassroots sampling over the rest of this exciting and rapidly emerging gold district."
