Canada's Diallo loses opener, ends Libema Open title defence

Canada's Gabriel Diallo suffered a defeat in his opening match at the Libema Open on Tuesday, bringing an abrupt end to his title defence at the ATP 250 event in 's-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands.

Match Details

Diallo, who entered the tournament as the defending champion after winning his first ATP title here last year, lost in straight sets to a qualifier. The Canadian struggled with his serve and was unable to find his rhythm against an aggressive opponent.

Early Exit

The loss marks a disappointing start to Diallo's grass-court season. The 24-year-old from Montreal had high hopes of building on his breakthrough performance from 2025, but was unable to replicate that success this year.

Despite the early exit, Diallo remains optimistic about the rest of the grass-court season, which includes Wimbledon later this month. He will now have extra time to prepare for the major tournament.

The Libema Open continues with several other Canadian players still in contention in both singles and doubles draws.
