Vancouver-based Q2 Metals Corp. has announced a major breakthrough at its Cisco Lithium Project in the Eeyou Istchee James Bay region of Quebec, intercepting a continuous 179.2-metre zone of spodumene-bearing pegmatite in a recent drill hole. This significant discovery, located north of the previously known mineralized zone, substantially expands the project's potential footprint.
Exceptional Drill Results Expand Mineralization
The company reported that drill hole CS25-065 encountered five separate spodumene pegmatite intervals, with the widest being the remarkable 179.2-metre continuous section. This hole was strategically positioned north of the established mineralized zone and west of the CO1 outcrop, revealing that the lithium-bearing system extends further north at shallow depths than initially anticipated.
Another notable result came from drill hole CS25-063, which intersected fifteen spodumene pegmatite intervals. This included a substantial 75.4-metre-wide interval along with three other intervals each exceeding 10 metres in width. This hole was located west of the previously known mineralized zone, indicating expansion potential in multiple directions.
Ongoing Exploration and Future Plans
Since the last visual update on September 10, 2025, Q2 Metals has completed an additional 7,781 metres of drilling across 21 holes. To date, the company has drilled a total of 67 holes representing 27,295 metres of exploration at the Cisco Project. Assays for drill holes 40 through 65 remain pending and will be reported once received from the laboratory.
Neil McCallum, Vice President of Exploration at Q2 Metals, expressed excitement about the results, stating that "Drill holes 63 and 65 demonstrate the continued growth potential of the Cisco Project. These holes were designed to define the limits of the system but, instead, discovered that the trend extends beyond our expectations." He particularly emphasized that "Hole-65 significantly expands the extent of known mineralization to the north."
Path to Mineral Resource Estimate
The company is progressing toward delivering an inaugural mineral resource estimate for the Cisco Project, which is currently expected in Q1 2026. Alicia Milne, President and CEO of Q2 Metals, commented on the project's advancement, noting "We are very pleased with the progress of the infill drilling at the Cisco Project as we look to advance from the conceptual Exploration Target announced in July to an inaugural mineral resource estimate."
Milne further explained that the earlier Exploration Target was based solely on the first 40 drill holes, and the company is excited to see how the resource estimate develops with these additional holes that have extended mineralization beyond previously defined parameters.
The geological team has completed core cutting and logging of holes CS25-046 through CS25-065, with samples dispatched to the SGS Canada preparation laboratory in Val-d'Or, Quebec for mineral analysis to confirm lithium content. The company notes that the Cisco Project remains open in all directions and Q2 Metals is well-funded to continue its exploration and development activities.
