Blue Rodeo, The Guess Who, and Nelly Among Early Highlights for 2026 PNE Summer Night Concerts

Vancouver's newest entertainment venue, the Freedom Mobile Arch amphitheatre, is set to host the highly anticipated 2026 PNE Summer Night Concerts series. The 10,000-capacity covered amphitheatre represents a significant upgrade for the annual fair, marking the first venue of its size in Vancouver since Expo '86.

New Venue Brings Renewed Energy to Vancouver's Concert Scene

PNE creative director Patrick Roberge expressed enthusiasm about what the new facility means for the fair's future. "It gives us a bit of a new lease on life to do some fun stuff with a venue that Vancouver has wanted since Expo '86," said Roberge. "That was the last time we had a covered amphitheatre of its size and now it makes sense to have one again. People are really excited about the opportunity, and I think we are going to see a lot of new festivals, concerts and events that call it home."

While celebrating the new space, Roberge emphasized that the fair will maintain its commitment to presenting diverse, high-quality entertainment that appeals to broad audiences. The expanded capacity of nearly 3,000 additional seats enables the booking of artists who previously might have bypassed Vancouver due to venue limitations.

Initial Lineup Features Diverse Musical Acts

The first five acts announced for the 2026 Summer Night Concert series include:

  • Blue Rodeo - Veteran Ontario roots rockers who played the final show at the old amphitheatre
  • The Guess Who - Iconic Canadian rock band featuring Randy Bachman and Burton Cummings
  • The Beaches - Multiple Juno award-winning quartet from Toronto
  • Nelly - Chart-topping hip-hop artist
  • Zedd - Internationally renowned electronic music producer

"We want the music to be a real jewel of the fair experience," Roberge explained. "A lot of artists used to playing the back of the old rodeo field have taken note of a new state-of-the-art venue. It makes it much easier to bring in artists that play the Hollywood Bowl and Red Rocks and like that open space presentation. We want it full and it's going to be a spectacular place to watch a show."

Practical Details for Concert-Goers

The 2026 PNE is scheduled to run from August 22 to September 7, with the Summer Night Concert series typically featuring doors opening at 6:30 p.m. and shows beginning at 7:30 p.m. Specific dates and times for each concert will be announced in the coming months.

A variety of PNE Fair and Playland passes are currently available for purchase at pne.ca, with individual day passes and concert tickets to be announced. The new amphitheatre will benefit from having the FIFA Fan Festival precede the PNE, allowing organizers to work out any initial venue challenges before the fair begins.

Blue Rodeo, having performed the final concert at the previous amphitheatre, expressed particular enthusiasm about returning to open the new venue. The band has established itself as a crowd favorite through numerous PNE performances over the years.

The announcement of these initial acts represents just the beginning of what promises to be an expanded concert series taking full advantage of Vancouver's newest major entertainment facility. Additional artists are expected to be announced in the coming weeks as the PNE prepares for what Roberge describes as "a spectacular place to watch a show."
