Air Canada Enhances Premium Airport Experience with New Café Launches in Montréal and Vancouver
Air Canada has significantly expanded its premium ground offerings with the opening of two new Air Canada Café locations at major Canadian airports. The airline unveiled a new café at Vancouver International Airport (YVR) on April 10, 2026, following the successful March 24 debut of another café at Montréal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL). These openings represent key components of Air Canada's multi-year initiative to modernize its global lounge network and enhance the customer journey.
Vancouver's Expanded Café Space Channels West Coast Aesthetics
The newly opened Air Canada Café at Vancouver International Airport occupies an impressive 4,489-square-foot space on the C concourse near gates 50 and 51. This second café location at YVR offers 84 premium seats, providing travelers with an expanded, serene environment inspired by West Coast design principles and culinary traditions.
The Vancouver café features a comprehensive full-service bar that includes specialty barista-made coffees, local craft beers on tap, and a curated selection of regional wines. Notable offerings include Narrative Red and a sparkling rosé from Okanagan Crush Pad, complemented by an impressive array of international wines and crafted cocktails.
The culinary menu emphasizes seasonal, locally sourced ingredients that reflect Vancouver's vibrant food scene. Travelers can enjoy signature dishes including warm char siu pork bao buns, vegan curry bao, freshly prepared vegetarian Kimbap, and sweet treats from the iconic Granville Island institution, Lee's Donuts.
Montréal Café Celebrates Local Coffee Culture
At Montréal-Trudeau International Airport, the new 62-seat Air Canada Café is strategically located in the U.S. departures pier, offering premium pre-flight experiences for travelers bound for American destinations. This second café location at YUL draws inspiration from Montréal's renowned "third wave" coffee culture while showcasing local flavors and design elements.
Similar to its Vancouver counterpart, the Montréal café features a full-service bar with locally sourced food and beverage options, along with convenient grab-and-go items for travelers with limited time. Both locations are designed to capture the unique spirit of their respective cities while maintaining Air Canada's commitment to premium service standards.
Design Elements Reflect Regional Identity
The Vancouver café's design, created by Vancouver-based SmartDesign Group, incorporates elements deeply connected to the region's natural landscape. A sculptural ceiling evokes the shoreline of Stanley Park, while lighting installations from Vancouver studio A-N-D recall the organic forms of river rocks. The space is further enriched by artwork from local artist Renée Van Halm and features a custom piece titled 'Connections' by Kelly Cannell, a Coast Salish artist from the Musqueam Nation.
"With our first Vancouver Café, we celebrated the spirit of the city, and we're thrilled to deepen that connection with a second and larger Café space that adds more of the features our customers love," said Jacqueline Harkness, Managing Director of Product & Services at Air Canada. "The new Vancouver and Montréal Cafés are key parts of our commitment to keep investing in the customer journey. Each is designed to capture the unique spirit of its respective city, and we look forward to welcoming our customers to these new spaces."
These café openings represent Air Canada's ongoing investment in enhancing the premium travel experience from the ground up. By incorporating locally inspired designs, regional culinary offerings, and expanded seating capacities, the airline continues to differentiate its airport services while providing travelers with distinctive, city-specific experiences before their flights.
