Tragic Morning Collision Claims Life of Local Woman
A 61-year-old woman lost her life following a serious three-vehicle collision south of Smiths Falls early on Thursday, November 20.
The Ontario Provincial Police reported that the fatal crash occurred shortly after 5:30 a.m. at the intersection of County Road 29 and Kitley South Elmsley Townline Road.
OPP Investigation Underway
According to a news release from the Leeds County OPP detachment, the victim, confirmed to be from the local area, was operating one of the three vehicles involved. Tragically, she was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Police confirmed that the other drivers involved sustained either minor injuries or were unharmed entirely.
Road Closure and Call for Information
The investigation into the cause of the collision necessitated the closure of County Road 29 for several hours. The roadway was eventually reopened to traffic later the same day.
