IKEA Canada Plans 3-Storey Digital Billboard in Ottawa

IKEA Canada has unveiled plans to install a massive three-storey tall outdoor digital billboard at its Ottawa store located on Iris Avenue, adjacent to the Queensway. The proposal, submitted to the city for approval, aims to replace the existing signage with a modern, energy-efficient digital display.

Project Details

The proposed billboard would stand approximately 10 meters high and feature a high-resolution LED screen capable of displaying advertisements, promotions, and community messages. IKEA officials state that the digital sign will operate during daylight hours and adjust brightness based on ambient light to minimize visual impact.

Community and Environmental Considerations

The company has committed to using energy-efficient technology and has conducted a traffic impact study to ensure the billboard does not distract drivers. Local residents and businesses will have an opportunity to provide feedback during a public consultation period before the city makes a final decision.

If approved, construction could begin later this year, with the billboard operational by early 2027. This initiative is part of IKEA's broader strategy to enhance customer experience and modernize its retail presence across Canada.
