Marrimor Debuts Bold, Colorful Furniture at Milan Design Week 2026
Marrimor Unveils Bold Furniture at Milan Design Week

Vancouver-based design studio Marrimor has made a striking impression at Milan Design Week 2026 with a bold new collection that celebrates color, texture, and form. The studio, founded by Lauren Bugliarisi and Tanja Breadner, unveiled five distinct pieces at the Alcova exhibition venue: the P2 coffee table, Drape swivel chair, Notch sectional, Concerto console, and Bloop rug.

A Collection That Commands Attention

The collection is designed to stand out, offering versatility for both maximalist and minimalist interiors. "A maximalist could place all five products in the same room and they would sing together and make a statement, but alternatively, just one piece in a room would provide a centrepiece for the space," says Bugliarisi. The pieces are incredibly colorful, expressive, and tactile, reflecting the studio's commitment to pushing boundaries.

Born from Creative Momentum

The collection emerged from a surge of creative energy following Milan Design Week 2025. "We have a lot of creative energy right after Milan Design Week, when we've had a chance to talk about the pieces. Those conversations inform and inspire what we do the following year," explains Breadner. Some pieces, like the Drape swivel chair, were conceptualized over time, while most of the collection was developed after returning from Milan last year.

Design Without Restraint

The unifying theme of the collection is freedom—freedom of color, material, and form. "We deeply desired to design products that weren't restrained in colour, shape or material application because that's what we find ourselves looking for in the market," says Bugliarisi. The result is a collection that can be layered or distilled to fit any space.

Craft, Collaboration, and Adaptability

All Marrimor furniture is produced in Italy, with soft goods and rugs sourced from Thailand and Nepal depending on the technique required. "We are committed to going wherever the workmanship is the best within any given category," says Bugliarisi. This approach occasionally leads to production challenges, such as material pivots. For example, the P2 coffee table was originally planned in a different finish but was reimagined in chrome due to material availability. "In the end, the cool mirror-like finish is the perfect contrast for the luxe leather and wood accents," she adds.

Playful Yet Precise

The collection has been met with enthusiasm. "We've had the most successful show this year since launching our company. The five products resonated very well with our clients and attracted new retailers, agents, architects and designers alike," says Breadner. Visitors appreciated the combination of playfulness and high-end execution. "As creatives, it's a relief to put something out into the world and have people understand it. People have been pleasantly surprised by how colourful the collection is and the material selection, which is all we can hope for!" concludes Bugliarisi.
