McDonald's Canada is set to introduce a variety of new beverages to its menu, aiming to attract customers looking for trendy and Instagram-worthy drinks. The additions include crafted sodas, also known as dirty sodas, refreshers, and cloud iced coffees, which will be available starting May 5.
New Beverage Offerings
The crafted sodas use a pop base mixed with flavored syrup and topped with foam. Options include Sprite Berry Bliss, Orange Dream, and Creamy Strawberry Coke. These drinks gained popularity through the stars of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, who avoid alcohol, coffee, and tea but enjoy soda.
The refreshers are lemonade-based drinks infused with mango, pineapple, watermelon, blackberry, and passion fruit flavors. They can be enhanced with freeze-dried strawberries or juice-filled pearls that burst when bitten.
Iced coffees come in French vanilla and salted caramel flavors, topped with cold foam. These join the classic beverages that remain on the menu.
Pricing and Availability
The new drinks range from $2.49 (plus tax) for a small iced coffee to $4.19 (before tax) for a large refresher or crafted soda. They will be available at McDonald's Canada locations starting May 5.
McDonald's Canada aims to position itself as a destination for fun, trendy beverages, competing with Starbucks and Tim Hortons. The move targets younger consumers who follow social media trends for their eating habits.
In February, McDonald's Canada partnered with Drake's OVO brand to offer Sprite with blue raspberry syrup. In January, the chain locked prices on coffees and McValue meals for at least a year, offering $1 small coffees and $5 meals with small sandwiches, fries, and fountain drinks.
Dollar drink days will return for the 17th consecutive summer, allowing customers to enjoy $1 pops and iced coffees.
