Consumer advocate Pat Foran emphasizes the importance of researching online retailers before making a purchase. He advises shoppers to read reviews, check return policies, and be skeptical of deals that seem unrealistic. Foran notes that scammers often use fake websites and social media ads to lure victims.

“If a deal looks too good to be true, it probably is,” Foran said in a statement. “Always verify the seller’s legitimacy and use secure payment methods.”
