A 26-year-old driver from Quebec has been charged following a motorcycle crash in East Hawkesbury, Ontario, on June 21, 2026. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the single-vehicle collision on County Road 17 around 6:30 p.m.
Details of the crash
According to the OPP, the driver lost control of the motorcycle, which left the roadway and struck a ditch. The driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Police allege that the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. He has been charged with impaired driving causing bodily harm and dangerous driving. The accused is scheduled to appear in court in L'Orignal on July 13, 2026.
Impact and context
The OPP reminds motorists that impaired driving remains a leading cause of collisions in Ontario. In 2025, the province reported over 8,000 impaired driving charges, with alcohol being a factor in nearly 30% of fatal crashes.
“Impaired driving is entirely preventable, and this incident could have been much worse,” said OPP Constable Bill Dickson. “We urge everyone to plan ahead and never drive after consuming alcohol or drugs.”
