General Motors emerged as Canada’s top-selling automaker for the first half of 2026, achieving a 15.4 per cent market share with 148,640 vehicle deliveries across its Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac brands. The company reported a 33.4 per cent year-over-year increase in electric vehicle sales, reinforcing its position as Canada’s EV sales leader.

Strong EV Performance and Affordable Models

GM’s EV portfolio delivered robust first-half results, led by Cadillac’s newest electric models and the relaunched Chevrolet Bolt. Together with the Chevrolet Equinox EV, the Bolt offers Canadians two affordable EVs, each with an estimated range exceeding 400 kilometres. Cadillac’s VISTIQ EV saw a 319 per cent sales surge, the OPTIQ EV rose 108.2 per cent, and the LYRIQ EV increased 7.6 per cent.

“GM led new vehicle sales in Canada through the first half of 2026, building on our momentum from 2025 and the first quarter of this year,” said Shane Peever, vice president of sales, service and marketing. “With nearly one in four EVs sold in Canada coming from Chevrolet, Cadillac and GMC, alongside strong demand for vehicles like the GMC Terrain and Chevrolet Suburban, Canadians are choosing GM because we offer the right vehicles at every price point.”
