Woodstock Man Charged with Stunt Driving Awaiting Trial

A 20-year-old Woodstock man already facing charges in a deadly 2024 Brampton crash has been arrested again for stunt driving, according to Peel Regional Police.

Latest Incident

Police allege that in the early hours of May 23, Hunter was driving near Winston Churchill Blvd. and Argentia Rd. in Mississauga, clocking 102 km/h in a 60 km/h zone. He was stopped and arrested without incident.

Mitchel Hunter now faces charges including stunt driving, speeding, failure to surrender driver's licence, and driving a motor vehicle contrary to emissions regulations. His licence has been suspended for 30 days, and his vehicle has been impounded.

Previous Deadly Incident

Hunter is already awaiting trial for a November 2024 crash in Brampton that killed a man and injured two others. Police allege he was leaving a street racing event at the time. He was charged with dangerous operation causing death and two counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm. None of the charges have been proven in court.

Ontario's Stunt Driving Penalties

Ontario imposes some of the strictest penalties for stunt driving and excessive speeding in North America. Consequences include an immediate 30-day licence suspension, a 14-day vehicle impoundment (regardless of ownership), a minimum fine of $2,000, and up to six months in jail.
