Cartier Resources Inc. has launched a significant metallurgical testwork program at its Cadillac Project located in the prolific Val-d'Or mining region of Quebec. The company announced that testing is now underway on samples collected from the Main Sector of the property, marking a crucial step in advancing the gold project.
Comprehensive Testing Methodology
The metallurgical program involves processing 388.7 kilograms of representative drill core samples, with 92% of the material originating from holes drilled by Cartier between 2017 and 2023. The samples have been carefully collected from three distinct gold deposits within the Main Sector: the Chimo Deposit (126.1 kg), East Chimo Deposit (132.6 kg), and West Nordeau Deposit (130.0 kg).
All testing materials have been shipped to ALS Canada Ltd – Metallurgy Services in Kamloops, British Columbia, for comprehensive analysis. The program is being supervised by Soutex, a Quebec City-based firm specializing in mineral processing and metallurgy.
Detailed Testing Process
The testing protocol includes cyanidation tests at three different grind sizes to determine optimal processing conditions. Following these initial tests, gravimetric concentration separation will be performed, accompanied by cyanide destruction tests on the gravity tails. The grind size demonstrating the best results will be selected for further analysis.
In addition to the primary metallurgical work, the program includes comminution testing and detailed chemical and mineralogical characterization. These additional tests will help define the grindability of the mineralized material and predict its behavior throughout the processing cycle.
Strategic Program Objectives
The metallurgical testwork program aims to achieve several critical objectives for Cartier Resources. The company seeks to define expected gold recovery rates while working to improve upon historical results from the Chimo deposit. Importantly, this marks the first time metallurgical recovery data will be established for the East Chimo and West Nordeau satellite deposits, where no previous information exists.
The program will also support the development of an integrated process flowsheet and provide essential data for future trade-off studies to guide project development decisions. Results from the comprehensive testing are anticipated in Q1 2026.
Broader Exploration Context
This metallurgical work forms part of Cartier's ambitious 2025-2027 exploration program, which includes a massive 100,000-meter drilling campaign scheduled from Q3 2025 to Q2 2027. The extensive drilling program will involve approximately 600 holes designed to expand known gold zones while testing new shallow surface targets with high potential.
The company emphasizes that its recent consolidation of the large land holding along the 15-kilometer Cadillac Fault Zone represents a unique exploration opportunity not seen in over 90 years, allowing for unrestricted exploration across the entire property.
