Cartier Resources Uncovers New Gold Mineralization System in Quebec's Pontiac Region
VAL-D'OR, Quebec – Cartier Resources Inc. has announced groundbreaking drill results from its Cadillac Project, revealing a newly identified porphyritic intrusion-related gold system within the Pontiac sedimentary Group. The company's latest findings from the Hope Sector demonstrate significant gold mineralization with assays reaching 5.2 grams per tonne gold over 5.0 meters and 1.2 g/t Au over 25.5 meters.
Substantial Drill Results Reveal Extensive Mineralization
The tenth batch of results from Cartier's ongoing 100,000-meter drilling program has yielded impressive numbers that point toward a substantial gold discovery. The drilling campaign, utilizing two rigs, has intersected multiple high-grade zones within the previously underexplored Pontiac sediments.
Key drill hole results include:
- CA26-327: 5.2 g/t Au over 5.0 meters, including 10.8 g/t Au over 1.0 meter
- CA26-330: 1.2 g/t Au over 25.5 meters, including 12.2 g/t Au over 0.5 meters with visible gold grains
- CA26-331: 1.1 g/t Au over 15.0 meters, including 9.5 g/t Au over 1.0 meter
- CA26-332: 1.0 g/t Au over 18.4 meters with visible gold grains
Additional significant intersections include 10.5 g/t Au over 1.0 meter in CA26-331 and 6.7 g/t Au over 2.2 meters in CA26-327, further confirming the presence of substantial gold mineralization.
New Gold System with Large-Scale Potential
The newly discovered Porphyry #1 zone represents a shallow and extensive porphyritic felsic intrusion-related gold system that extends over a minimum of 750 meters in strike length by 250 meters in depth. The mineralization remains open in all directions, suggesting considerable exploration upside potential.
Gold values within this new host rock range from 1.0 to 3.5 g/t Au over significant lengths of 8.0 to 25.5 meters, indicating the potential for a large-scale gold mineralized system. The geological setting is reminiscent of the prolific Canadian Malartic Camp, one of Quebec's most significant gold districts.
Adding to the discovery's significance, a second porphyritic felsic intrusion (Porphyry #2) has been identified approximately 2 kilometers east of the initial discovery. Preliminary drilling has already intersected visible gold grains in this zone, with assay results currently pending.
Strategic Implications for Cartier Resources
Philippe Cloutier, President and CEO of Cartier Resources, emphasized the transformative potential of these discoveries: "These new results could be transformative for Cartier shareholders. The confirmation of a porphyritic intrusion-related gold system within the Pontiac sediments shows a new and significant gold potential and unlocks a highly prospective dimension at the Cadillac project."
The Cadillac Project now stands as potentially the second example in Quebec, following the Malartic mining camp, of this highly favorable geological setting for gold mineralization. The Hope Sector has been elevated to a highly strategic area for the project despite its early-stage exploration status.
Future Exploration Plans
Cartier Resources is actively revising its 2026 drilling strategy in response to these discoveries. Additional exploration drilling is planned to test two new high-priority geophysical targets:
- A 1,500-meter strong chargeability anomaly between existing porphyry zones to test expansion potential
- A 750-meter ovoid magnetic anomaly consistent with sizable intrusive bodies often associated with porphyry mineralization
A detailed lithogeochemical study is currently underway on both intrusions to characterize their geochemical signatures and determine their classifications. This analysis will help establish petrogenetic affinities and facilitate correlation with recognized intrusive systems in the Malartic mining camp.
The Cadillac Project, located in Val-d'Or within Quebec's Abitibi region, is 100% owned by Cartier Resources. The company trades on the TSX Venture Exchange under symbol ECR and on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange under symbol 6CA.
