VANCOUVER, British Columbia – Coppernico Metals Inc. has initiated a significant field exploration campaign at two key target areas within its Sombrero Project in Peru, the company announced November 17, 2025. Through its Peruvian subsidiary, Sombrero Minerales SAC, the company is now conducting systematic evaluation work at both the Nioc target area and the Antapampa target.
Comprehensive Exploration Program Underway
The 2025 field campaign represents the first sustained, systematic evaluation by Coppernico in these specific areas and is designed to refine targets for future drilling. The program encompasses multiple exploration techniques including soil geochemistry on a 200-metre by 200-metre grid spacing to identify geochemical anomalies in areas lacking rock outcrops.
Additional work includes channel sampling of key outcrops to assess grade distribution and continuity, along with detailed geological mapping and rock sampling to characterize lithology, alteration patterns, and structural controls. The objective is to expand knowledge of known surface mineralization at Nioc while characterizing the geochemical footprint of the larger skarn system.
Promising Mineralization at Nioc Target
Surface mapping at the Nioc target has revealed a substantial garnet-magnetite skarn domain with visible copper oxides and trace sulphides across an envelope measuring approximately 2 kilometres by 3 kilometres of discontinuously mapped skarn alteration. This pattern is consistent with a large exoskarn system and directly comparable to alteration observed at the nearby Ccascabamba target area.
Recent surface channel sampling at Nioc has already outlined multiple continuous copper-gold intervals, with the longest and highest grade composites including impressive results. Sample 25SRT032 returned 93.5 metres of 0.87% copper, 0.19 g/t gold, and 0.60 g/t silver. Other notable results include 25SRT029 with 52 metres of 1.06% copper, 0.19 g/t gold, and 1.20 g/t silver, along with 25SRT030 showing 40 metres of 0.96% copper, 0.13 g/t gold, and 0.96 g/t silver.
Company Leadership Optimistic About Discovery Potential
Ivan Bebek, Chair and CEO of Coppernico, expressed enthusiasm about the exploration program's commencement. "The commencement of these programs, along with additional geophysical studies that will follow in the near future, are indicative of our continued, active efforts to refine and further establish a premier pipeline of significant copper-gold targets," Bebek stated.
He emphasized that the Sombrero Project represents one of the most compelling copper-gold exploration opportunities for discovery globally, with analogues to several major mines. Bebek also highlighted the company's collaborative relationships with local communities and the Peruvian government, noting these partnerships continue to expand across the region and support the project's advancement.
The exploration work at both Nioc and Antapampa aims to identify and evaluate new mineralized zones, particularly at Antapampa, with the ultimate goal of defining drill-ready targets within Coppernico's extensive land position that offers multiple large skarn-porphyry discovery opportunities.
