VANCOUVER, British Columbia – Giga Metals Corp. (TSX-V: GIGA; OTCQB: GIGGF; FSE: BRR2) has announced the start of a property-scale geophysical survey program at its Turnagain Project, a joint venture with Mitsubishi Corporation. The program focuses on the Attic Zone, an underexplored area adjacent to the known nickel-cobalt resource, seeking copper, platinum, and palladium mineralization.
Program Details and Objectives
The geophysical program includes a Magnetotelluric (MT) survey covering three lines totaling 17 km, continuing 2025 MT work that maps the geometry of the Turnagain ultramafic intrusive complex at depth. MT exploits the resistivity contrast between ultramafic rocks and surrounding graphitic country rocks. Additionally, a HeliSAM-EM survey will cover 504 line-km, mapping subsurface conductivity to significantly greater depths than the 2004 AeroTEM survey. HeliSAM is a semi-airborne method capable of detecting conductors beyond conventional airborne EM reach.
“This program expands on the Company’s exploration focus to include copper, platinum and palladium mineralization,” said Scott Lendrum, CEO of Giga Metals. “The Attic Zone is a large, underexplored area adjacent to our nickel-cobalt resource. Given the scale of the system, and the depths at which we are evaluating, a combined MT/EM approach is the next logical step to unlock the significant potential of the Attic Zone.”
Property-Scale Coverage
The survey provides approximately 6.5 km by 4.5 km of multi-layered geophysical coverage across the intrusive complex. This broad approach supports a more comprehensive understanding of the mineral system and refined targeting for future drilling. The program is fully funded and expected to be completed over the next several weeks, with results guiding continued exploration of the Attic Zone into fall 2026.
About the Turnagain Project
Giga Metals’ core asset is the Turnagain Project in northern British Columbia, hosting one of the few significant undeveloped sulfide nickel and cobalt resources globally. The project is held in Hard Creek Nickel, a subsidiary jointly owned by Giga Metals and Mitsubishi Corporation. A Pre-Feasibility Study was released in October 2023. The ultramafic intrusive complex is also prospective for copper, platinum, and palladium in the Attic Zone, adjacent to the known nickel resource.
