Sable Resources Consolidates New Zorro Copper Project in Argentina
Sable Resources Consolidates Zorro Copper Project

Vancouver-based mineral exploration company Sable Resources Ltd. has taken a significant step to solidify its presence in a promising Argentine mining district. The company announced on January 15, 2026, that it has entered into a binding letter agreement with an independent third party. The intent is to formalize an option agreement granting Sable a 100% interest in the "La Esquina" property, located in the San Juan province of Argentina.

Creating a New Strategic Land Package

This acquisition is strategically crucial as the La Esquina property comprises four mining claims that sit directly adjacent to two properties Sable had previously staked. By combining these holdings, Sable has created a new, consolidated exploration project spanning 5,236 hectares. The company has named this enhanced land package the "Zorro Project."

The Zorro Project is situated in the Frontal Cordillera region of San Juan. Its location is highly prospective, positioned directly north of two major, well-known copper and polymetallic deposits developed by Minsud Resources and global mining giant South32 in the Chita Valley.

Proximity to Major Deposits and Sable's Other Assets

The project's neighbourhood includes the substantial Chinchillones deposit, which boasts indicated resources of 188 million tonnes and inferred resources of 573 million tonnes. Just to the south also lies the Chita South Porphyry Deposit. Furthermore, Sable's own Don Julio Project, which hosts four active porphyry targets, is located approximately 21 kilometres to the west of the new Zorro Project.

Sable identified the mineral potential at Zorro through its systematic regional target generation work. The project area contains several historical mineral occurrences and excavations. These are centered around a large magnetic anomaly measuring roughly 7 kilometres by 4 kilometres, which geophysical data suggests is caused by a diorite stock intruding older sedimentary and granite rocks.

Multiple Mineralization Styles Identified

Following a preliminary field review, Sable's geologists have identified three distinct styles of mineralization on the property, indicating a complex and potentially rich system.

Intrusion-Related Copper Mineralization: This style has been found remarkably close to the known major deposits—only 7.7 km from Chita South and 9.8 km from Chinchillones. The mineralization, hosted in granite near the contact with the diorite stock, features coarse chalcopyrite within quartz-magnetite-specularite veins. These chalcopyrite-bearing veins are observed over an area of about 650 by 500 metres. Sable plans detailed mapping, sampling, trenching, and geophysics here, leading to a planned drill program in the second half of 2026.

Magmatic-Hydrothermal Breccias: A breccia zone outcrops over an area of 180 by 100 metres, showing quartz, sericite, carbonate, and pyrite cement. The geometry and textures of this breccia suggest proximity to a breccia cupola zone, with the potential for copper mineralization increasing at depth.

Path Forward for the Zorro Project

The consolidation of the Zorro Project represents a strategic expansion of Sable's portfolio in the prolific San Juan province. By securing 100% control of this contiguous land package adjacent to world-class deposits and showcasing multiple mineralization styles, Sable has positioned itself to aggressively explore a new, district-scale opportunity. The company's methodical approach, moving from regional targeting to focused field work and planned drilling, outlines a clear path to potentially unlocking significant value for its shareholders from this newly assembled asset.
