SAGA Metals Expands Wolverine REE Project in Labrador with High-Grade Assays
SAGA Metals Expands Wolverine REE Project in Labrador

SAGA Metals Corp., a North American exploration company focused on critical mineral discoveries, has announced a significant expansion of its Wolverine Heavy Rare Earth Element (REE) Project in Labrador. The company executed a title transfer agreement to acquire a 100% interest in three contiguous mineral licenses comprising 54 claims, totaling approximately 1,350 hectares. Additionally, SAGA staked 202 mineral claims within one license, creating a contiguous land package of about 29,450 hectares.

High-Grade Assay Results

The expansion is supported by impressive assay results from surface grab samples. Certified laboratory analyses from Eastern Analytical Ltd. and AGAT Laboratories confirm extreme REE enrichment across multiple samples. Notably, sample 11266 from Show 6 assayed at 21.6% Total Rare Earth Oxides (TREO), with high concentrations of cerium, neodymium, lanthanum, terbium, dysprosium, and yttrium. Other samples from Show 6 exceeded laboratory detection limits for cerium and neodymium, indicating TREO levels above 15.28% and 15.35%, with actual values likely higher.

Project Highlights

  • Seven identified REE-bearing showings hosted in peralkaline pegmatites, documented through 39 surface grab samples.
  • Assays show TREO values ranging from 1.1% to 4.8% in additional grab samples, with Shows 1, 4, and 7 returning up to 1.9% TREO.
  • The mineralization style complements the overall property boundary, offering high-grade pegmatite-hosted REE potential alongside the main zone of bulk disseminated caldera tuff-hosted REE mineralization.

Geological Context

The entire Wolverine Property is situated within the Flowers River Igneous Suite (FRIS), a Mesoproterozoic peralkaline magmatic province approximately 1.3 billion years old. This suite represents one of the largest known peralkaline intrusive-volcanic complexes in Labrador, comprising the Flowers River peralkaline granite, the Nuiklavik volcanic caldera complex, and associated ring intrusions.

The original Wolverine Property boundary lies within the Nuiklavik caldera complex, where REE mineralization occurs as bulk disseminated enrichment in ash-flow tuffs. The newly acquired 54 claims are hosted in peralkaline pegmatites at the outer margin of the Flowers River pluton, located 12 kilometers south-southwest of Wolverine's 2025 drilling campaign. This area represents the last-crystallizing, most chemically evolved melt fractions of the granite body, providing a high-grade extension to the mineralized potential on the property.

Strategic Implications

This expansion enhances SAGA Metals' position in the critical minerals sector, particularly for rare earth elements essential for modern technologies. The consolidation of land through title transfer and staking strengthens the company's exploration footprint in a geologically promising region. The high-grade assays underscore the potential for significant REE discoveries, aligning with global demand for sustainable and secure supply chains.

As SAGA continues to advance the Wolverine Project, further drilling and analysis are expected to delineate the full extent of REE mineralization, contributing to Labrador's growing reputation as a hub for critical mineral exploration.
