Grand Bend Bridge Work Delayed, Reopening Pushed to July
Grand Bend Bridge Reopening Delayed to July

The Ontario Street Bridge in Grand Bend will be reopening in July, as construction has fallen approximately one week behind schedule, the Municipality of Lambton Shores announced.

Revised Timeline for Bridge Completion

Originally anticipated to open earlier, the bridge work is now expected to be finished by mid-July. Municipal officials cited unforeseen delays in the supply chain and weather conditions as contributing factors to the setback.

“We understand the inconvenience this causes for residents and visitors, but we are committed to ensuring the bridge is safe and durable,” said a spokesperson for the municipality.

Improvements Underway

The renovation project includes structural reinforcements, wider pedestrian walkways, and upgraded lighting. These changes aim to improve safety and accessibility for both vehicles and pedestrians.

Detour routes remain in place, and the municipality advises drivers to plan alternate routes during the extended closure.

Local businesses have expressed concern about the delay, as the summer season is crucial for tourism. However, officials are working to expedite the remaining work.
