Mattamy Homes Buys 153 Acres for New Calgary Community

Mattamy Homes, recognized as North America's largest family-owned homebuilder, has finalized the acquisition of 153 acres of land in the Belvedere area of southeast Calgary. The transaction closed on Monday, June 1, 2026, marking a significant expansion for the company in the region.

Strategic Expansion in Calgary

This acquisition represents Mattamy's first community in southeast Calgary, allowing the company to establish a presence in all four quadrants of the city. The newly acquired land is situated between 17 Avenue SE, the Trans-Canada Highway, and the City of Chestermere, within the emerging Belvedere district.

Collin Campbell, President of Mattamy's Alberta Division, expressed enthusiasm about the project. "Belvedere represents an exciting next chapter for Mattamy in Alberta. Our commitment has always been to create vibrant communities where families can truly thrive, and this new community, easily accessible from neighbourhood amenities and roadways, will allow us to bring the Mattamy difference to even more Calgarians."

Community Features and Timeline

The new community, which has yet to be named, will offer a diverse mix of housing options, including single-family homes, semi-detached homes, and townhomes. Residents will benefit from over 13 acres of parks, trails, a storm pond, and open spaces designed to foster an active lifestyle.

Nearby amenities include the East Hills Shopping Centre, which provides extensive retail and dining options, and a convenient 15-minute drive to downtown Calgary. Major routes such as Stoney Trail, 17 Avenue SE, and the Trans-Canada Highway will ensure easy connectivity for residents.

Mattamy anticipates that grading and servicing will commence in 2028, with the first residents expected to move in by early 2030. The full buildout of the community is projected to take approximately seven years, with completion slated for 2037.
