Toronto police have announced the largest seizure of counterfeit soccer jerseys in Canadian history. The announcement comes just weeks before Toronto is set to host the FIFA World Cup this month.
In a news release issued Monday, police said the seizure is the result of a fraud investigation by the Toronto Police Service. The Toronto cops will have a full recap of the bust at a press conference on Monday at 1 p.m.
Deputy Chief Robert Johnson will announce the results of a fraud investigation. He will be joined by Superintendent David Ecklund.
The announcement comes just weeks before Toronto is set to host the FIFA World Cup this month. Canada begins the World Cup against Bosnia and Herzegovina on June 12 at BMO Field.
