A 36-year-old man is fighting for his life after being ejected from his vehicle during a two-vehicle collision in Scarborough late Friday night. The incident occurred at Lawrence Avenue East and Markham Road around 11:15 p.m., according to Toronto Police.

Details of the Crash

Police reported that an 18-year-old male was driving a white 2018 Toyota Camry westbound on Lawrence Avenue East approaching Markham Road. Simultaneously, a 36-year-old man was operating a grey 2015 Lexus ES 300 eastbound on the same road. The Lexus driver was attempting a left turn into a plaza when the collision occurred.

“The driver of the Lexus was ejected from the vehicle,” police stated in a release on Saturday. The force of the crash caused the man to be thrown from his car, leaving him with critical injuries.

Injuries and Hospitalization

Emergency responders transported the 18-year-old Toyota driver to a local hospital with serious injuries, though they are not considered life-threatening. The Lexus driver, however, was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries and remains in critical condition.

Authorities have not announced any charges at this time, and no further details have been released. The investigation is ongoing, led by members of Toronto Police Traffic Services.
