Toronto Police are investigating an explosive situation that occurred early Monday in Etobicoke. At approximately 12:55 a.m., police responded to reports of a vehicle that had crashed into Phatboy Fireworks in the Albion Road and Highway 27 area.

Toronto Fire crews were called to the commercial plaza for the 4-alarm blaze. Video from the scene showed members of the aerial crew battling flames and heavy smoke as fireworks could be heard exploding from inside the unit. The blaze also reached neighbouring units in the commercial plaza. There were no reported injuries.

Investigation Underway

“Right now, we have fire protecting the scene, just waiting for an investigation from the fire marshal as to what is going on in there,” 23 Division Staff Sgt. Rich Sidhu told the Toronto Sun on Monday. “Once they deem it safe, we just have officers sitting on it before we can release it in terms of the vehicle investigation.”
