A 45-year-old Nova Scotia man has been arrested and charged with impaired driving after his truck, which was hauling a boat, crashed into a ditch near Halifax on Tuesday evening.
Crash details
Halifax District RCMP responded to a single-vehicle collision on Highway 102 near Exit 4A around 6:30 p.m. The truck and boat trailer left the roadway and ended up in a ditch. No injuries were reported, but the driver showed signs of impairment, according to police.
The man failed a roadside sobriety test and was taken to the Halifax RCMP detachment for further testing. He was later released and is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court at a later date.
Charges laid
The driver faces charges of impaired driving under the Criminal Code. Police did not release his name but confirmed he is from Nova Scotia. The truck and boat were towed from the scene.
RCMP remind the public that impaired driving remains a leading cause of fatal collisions in Canada. They encourage anyone who suspects a driver is impaired to call 911.
