Fatal Mid-Air Collision Near Cornwall

One person has died following a collision involving two small aircraft in South Glengarry, Ontario, according to the Ontario Provincial Police. The incident occurred on Saturday morning in the township located just north of Cornwall.

Emergency Response and Crash Details

OPP officers responded to reports of the mid-air collision at approximately 11 a.m. on Saturday in the South Glengarry area. Police confirmed that one of the aircraft managed to land safely following the incident. However, the second plane crashed in a wooded area nearby.

The pilot of the aircraft that crashed was declared deceased at the scene by emergency responders. Authorities have not released the identity of the deceased individual pending family notification.

Ongoing Investigation and Area Closures

The Ontario Provincial Police have notified the Transportation Safety Board of Canada about the fatal crash. TSB officials will be taking charge of the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Following the incident, County Road 20 remained closed to traffic as emergency crews and investigators worked at the scene. Police have asked members of the public to avoid the area while the investigation continues.
