TTC Streetcar Diverted After Truck Hits Bridge in Liberty Village

A truck struck a rail bridge in Liberty Village on Wednesday morning, cutting off overhead power and forcing the diversion of the TTC's 504 King streetcar, according to transit officials.

Details of the Incident

Toronto Police reported on social media that the crash occurred at King Street West and Atlantic Avenue, east of Dufferin Street, shortly after 8 a.m. Emergency crews responded to the scene, but no injuries were reported. Police advised commuters to seek alternate routes in the area.

TTC spokesperson Stuart Green stated in an email that the truck hit the west side of the underpass, and crews were assessing the damage. As of now, there is no estimated time for repairs to be completed.

Service Alerts and Diversions

According to TTC service alerts, the 504A streetcar was being diverted at Shaw Street to Queen Street West as it makes its way to Dundas West Station. The 504B route was diverting along Queen Street West between Shaw Street and the Dufferin Loop. Additionally, shuttle buses are running between Roncesvalles Avenue and Strachan Avenue to accommodate affected passengers.
