One person was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition after a vehicle collided with a pole in south Calgary early Sunday morning. The single-vehicle crash occurred at the intersection of Macleod Trail and 94 Avenue Southeast.

Emergency response

Calgary police and emergency medical services responded to the scene around 2 a.m. The driver, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was extracted and transported to hospital with serious injuries. The cause of the crash is under investigation, and no other vehicles were involved.

Traffic disruptions

The intersection was closed for several hours as crews worked to clear the wreckage and repair the damaged pole. Motorists were advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes. The road has since reopened.
