A WestJet flight traveling from Vancouver to Phoenix was forced to return to Vancouver on Thursday afternoon due to a mechanical issue, causing a turbulent experience for passengers aboard.
The flight, which departed from Vancouver International Airport, encountered the problem mid-flight, prompting the pilots to turn the aircraft around and head back to Vancouver. Passengers reported a bumpy ride during the incident, but no injuries were reported.
WestJet confirmed the issue in a statement, saying the flight landed safely and that maintenance crews are inspecting the aircraft. The airline is working to rebook affected passengers on alternative flights.
The incident comes amid a busy travel period, with many passengers heading south for warmer weather. WestJet apologized for the inconvenience and said safety remains its top priority.
