Windsor's St. Angela Catholic Elementary School is marking a significant milestone: a century of education. Originally opened in 1926, the school will host a two-day celebration in May 2026, inviting former staff, students, and community members to reconnect and explore its rich history.
Centennial Celebration Events
The festivities begin on Friday, May 8, at 7 p.m. with an alumni social at the Caboto Club. This gathering offers a chance for former teachers, students, and friends of St. Angela to share memories and rekindle old friendships. Tickets are priced at $25 and can be purchased online, at the school, or at the door if available. The evening will include pizza, light snacks, and dessert.
On Saturday, May 9, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the school at 816 Ellis Street will host a centennial open house. Visitors can tour classrooms, walk the hallways, and explore interactive displays that highlight the school's history through the decades. Entertainment will include dance performances by local ethnic and cultural clubs.
Legacy Projects
Retired St. Angela teacher and children's author Antoine Khoury will be present to sell copies of his books, with a portion of proceeds supporting the St. Angela Legacy Project. This initiative aims to raise funds for a new playground, ensuring future generations benefit from a strong sense of community.
Principal John Mazloumian expressed gratitude for the alumni's support in planning the celebration. "St. Angela School holds a special place in the hearts of so many families across generations," he said. "This centennial reflects the deep connection our alumni continue to have with the school."
