Violent Incident at Spencer Middle School
Multiple Westshore RCMP officers and school liaison officers responded urgently to Spencer Middle School in Langford on Thursday morning after receiving reports of a violent assault on school grounds. The incident occurred around 9 a.m. at the school located in the 1000-block of Goldstream Avenue.
Police Response and Investigation
According to West Shore RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Nancy Saggar, police arrived at the scene within minutes of being notified. The investigation revealed that a male adult had entered school property and physically assaulted a male student before fleeing the area prior to police arrival.
The victim sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and received immediate medical care following the attack. Police emphasized that the assault appeared to be targeted rather than random, though the suspect and student were not related.
Swift Arrest and Legal Proceedings
Law enforcement officials successfully located and arrested a 35-year-old male suspect shortly after the violent encounter. The individual was remanded in custody and scheduled to appear in court on November 14 to face charges related to the incident.
Cpl. Saggar confirmed that the quick police response and subsequent arrest demonstrated RCMP's commitment to school safety in the Langford community. The case continues to be investigated as authorities work to determine the motive behind the targeted attack.
