Multi-Vehicle Collision Sends Teen to Hospital in Critical Condition
A 15-year-old pedestrian remains in hospital with critical injuries following a dramatic multi-vehicle collision that involved a school bus, Regina Transit bus, and a passenger car on Wednesday afternoon. The incident occurred in the 1300 block of Broadway Avenue shortly before 4 p.m., prompting a significant emergency response from Regina Police Service and EMS.
Chain of Events on Broadway Avenue
According to the Regina Police Service, their preliminary investigation reveals the school bus was traveling along Broadway Avenue when it first collided with both a car and a city transit bus. The impact caused the school bus to veer into a nearby parking lot, where it subsequently struck the 15-year-old pedestrian.
Emergency medical services transported the teenage girl to hospital in what authorities described as stable but critical condition. The school bus driver was also taken to hospital for further medical assessment as a precautionary measure.
Passengers and Ongoing Investigation
Police confirmed that both the school bus and Regina Transit bus were carrying passengers at the time of the collision. Fortunately, aside from the 15-year-old pedestrian and the school bus driver, no other physical injuries were reported among occupants of the involved vehicles.
The Regina Police Service emphasized that their investigation into the exact circumstances of the November 12th collision remains active. Authorities have not released additional details about what may have caused the initial collision between the school bus and the other vehicles.
This incident has raised concerns about pedestrian safety and traffic conditions in the Broadway Avenue area, particularly during afternoon hours when school transportation is active. The Regina Police Service continues to gather evidence and witness statements to determine the sequence of events that led to this serious collision.
