Ben Stiller was a good sport Monday night, attending the Met Gala with his wife, Christine Taylor, even though it meant missing a crucial Round 2 playoff game between his beloved New York Knicks and the Philadelphia 76ers.
Stiller was seen getting into a car when someone got his attention by yelling, “Let’s go, Knicks!” He responded, “All right, yeah,” before admitting with a laugh, “I wish I was there.”
This expression of fandom went a little better for Stiller than the one he made on April 25 that was, unfortunately, misinterpreted by many members of MAGA. Stiller wrote “Got it done” on a pro-Knicks tweet that was posted around the same time as news of a shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner broke online. As a result, many Donald Trump supporters, including Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) and Richard Grenell, Trump’s envoy for special missions, assumed it was a political post.
