Chelley Bissainthe's Vision Board Comes to Life After Love Island USA
Just one year ago, Chelley Bissainthe's aspirations were confined to a vision board, filled with dreams of a flourishing modeling career, significant brand collaborations, and a cross-country relocation from Orlando to Los Angeles. However, after joining the cast of Love Island USA Season 7 last summer, those ambitions rapidly transformed into tangible achievements. The former day trader witnessed her social media following skyrocket from 10,000 to over 2 million, attracting major brands like CoverGirl, True Religion, and Shea Moisture.
Embracing Vulnerability and Speaking Her Truth
Reflecting on her experience, Bissainthe emphasizes the importance of vulnerability. "I allowed myself to be the most vulnerable I've ever been," she shared in a recent interview. "I remember telling myself, girl, you want to go find love. So if that's the case, you want to do things differently. You have to be raw, you have to show your emotions." This approach resonated with viewers, many of whom reached out to express how her authenticity inspired them. Bissainthe noted that hearing "You helped me find myself" from fans made her realize the impact of her presence on the show.
Navigating Fame and Personal Challenges
The transition to overnight celebrity brought adjustments, including increased public scrutiny. Bissainthe recently dealt with personal drama, including a breakup from co-star Ace Greene, which she addressed with discretion. "Moments like these are meant to be worked through in real life... not online," she stated, prioritizing privacy and peace. Despite these challenges, she appears refreshed and focused on her future endeavors.
Expanding Beyond Reality Television
Now based in Los Angeles, Bissainthe is eager to diversify her career. "I'm a big advocate for not putting yourself in a box and really owning all that you are," she explained. Her plans include:
- Modeling and fashion ventures
- Hosting a new music-centric series called Love, Songs on UPROXX TV
- Launching an interactive podcast to connect with fans, whom she calls her "Cherries"
- Exploring acting opportunities
- Developing brand collaborations
She executive-produces Love, Songs, which explores how music influences love and identity. "Music has always been one of the most powerful ways people connect to their emotions and memories," Bissainthe noted.
Roots of Resilience and Confidence
Bissainthe's self-assurance stems from childhood experiences, where she faced challenges as one of the few dark-skinned Black girls in her elementary school. "That pushed me to build confidence from within, instead of waiting for the world to affirm me," she confided. This resilience carried into adulthood, including her time at St. John's University, where she initially considered forensic psychology before pivoting to pursue modeling and entrepreneurship.
Future Prospects and Reality TV
While Bissainthe has closed her chapter on Love Island USA, declining to appear on the spinoff Beyond the Villa, she remains open to hosting roles. "I would host a reality TV show, most definitely," she said, but ruled out returning as a contestant. She humorously added, "'Dancing With the Stars,' please call me." Her focus is on leveraging her platform to inspire others, emphasizing intentionality in her projects.
Bissainthe's journey from vision board to reality underscores her multifaceted ambitions and determination to carve a unique path beyond the villa walls.
