Hunter Biden Calls Out Jake Tapper Over Jill Biden Criticism

Hunter Biden, son of former President Joe Biden, has publicly rebuked CNN journalist Jake Tapper for what he perceives as unwarranted attacks on his stepmother, former first lady Jill Biden. In a lengthy post on X on Wednesday, Hunter Biden redirected attention to controversial actions within President Donald Trump's family.

"So let me get this straight. Jake Tapper is focused on attacking my Mom," Hunter Biden wrote. He then highlighted several Trump family activities: "Jared and Ivanka are building a private island paradise on Albanian protected land. Don Jr married the daughter of Epstein's banker, and a startup his fund backs just got a record $620M Pentagon loan." He added, "Eric is taking an Israeli drone company public for $1.5B in the middle of a war with Iran that nobody wanted. And I know: 'But what about your paintings, Hunter?' Please."

The post appeared to be a response to Tapper's critical analysis of Jill Biden's new memoir, "View from the East Wing." In the book, the former first lady offers candid reflections on her husband's single-term presidency and his controversial decision to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race. On Tuesday, Tapper published a CNN article accusing Jill Biden of presenting a "rosy if not blindfolded" account of events. He described Joe Biden as "the most glaring example" of a politician past his prime who "refused to give up power."

"The most charitable interpretation of Jill Biden's book, particularly the parts dealing with her husband's aging, is that she's having difficulty accepting what's been happening to him for years," Tapper wrote. "The less forgiving version is that she's been enabling it and is now seeking to find an excuse for what we all saw."

In a subsequent video on CNN's Instagram, Tapper doubled down, calling Jill Biden "the queen of omission." This is not the first time Tapper has drawn Democratic ire. Last year, he co-authored "Original Sin: President Biden's Decline, Its Cover-up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again" with Axios reporter Alex Thompson, scrutinizing Biden's fitness for office. In an October interview with Mediaite, Hunter Biden accused Tapper of practicing "what-about-ism journalism" and urged him to "cool it on the ChatGPT" before writing another book, adding, "I don't know many of his colleagues that like him or that respect him."
