Lesley Stahl had dinner with '60 Minutes' executive producer Nick Bilton on Thursday night as she weighs her future on the show, according to a report from Puck.
Stahl's Next Move
Stahl is one of the three correspondents, along with Bill Whitaker and Jon Wertheim, who have yet to leave the show following the firing of other top talent and editors and the exit of Anderson Cooper. Amid the uncertainty, Stahl has reportedly hired top Creative Artists Agency agent Bryan Lourd to represent her, Puck said.
Bilton's Email to Staff
In an email to staff on Thursday, Bilton acknowledged that 'it has been a trying and difficult few days,' while praising Stahl, Whitaker and Wertheim. 'Lesley, Bill and Jon are core to this show’s success,' he wrote. 'They have sat across from the most powerful people in the world and refused to blink. Audiences trust them because they have proved it, story by story, for decades. Working with them is a privilege and every journalist’s dream.'
Weiss's Plan Falls Apart
Meanwhile, the Puck report also notes that the plan CBS News Editor-in-Chief Bari Weiss had originally pitched to Paramount CEO David Ellison about overhauling '60 Minutes' involved building the show around Cooper. But her plan fell apart after Cooper announced his plan to leave the show this spring. Read more at Puck.
