Russell Brand has once again publicly criticized his ex-wife Katy Perry's relationship with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. In an interview on The Megyn Kelly Show, the British comedian, who faces multiple charges of rape and sexual assault, expressed his disapproval of the romance.
Brand Reflects on Failed Marriage
During the interview, Brand, 50, admitted that he did not handle his marriage to Perry well. He stated that he pushed for an early wedding due to feelings of inadequacy and insecurity. "It was my fault," he said, explaining that he believed marrying Perry would make him a better and more important person.
Brand's Criticism of Trudeau
When asked by Megyn Kelly about Perry's relationship with Trudeau, Brand did not hold back. He referred to Trudeau as "Legolas" and expressed his admiration for Perry's ex-husband Orlando Bloom. Brand also made a controversial remark, calling Trudeau "Fidel Castro's spawn," and criticized his leadership style, labeling him as authoritarian and "ultra woke."
Brand specifically took issue with Trudeau's response to the Freedom Convoy protests in early 2022, stating that he did not like how Trudeau targeted the truck drivers. He also criticized Trudeau's stance on Russia's invasion of Ukraine, accusing him of hypocrisy.
Brand Predicts Perry Will Come to Her Senses
Brand joked that Perry might eventually come to her senses and end her relationship with Trudeau. When Kelly informed him that the couple was still together, Brand quipped, "Keep checking. She could come to her senses any minute."
Brand's Legal Troubles
Brand also touched on his upcoming trial for rape and sexual assault, to which he has pleaded not guilty. He made a dark joke comparing his situation to Trudeau's, saying, "It'll be a relief to be in a rape trial." Additionally, Brand commented on Ruby Rose's allegations that Perry sexually assaulted her in 2010, which Perry's representatives have denied. Brand dismissed the allegations, saying he couldn't understand what the crime was.
