Tina Fey Defends Timothée Chalamet Over 'Manspreading'

Tina Fey has addressed the recent controversy surrounding her seating arrangement with Timothée Chalamet at a New York Knicks game. During an appearance on Jason and Travis Kelce's podcast 'New Heights,' the comedian clarified that Chalamet was nothing but a gentleman, despite photos suggesting otherwise.

Setting the Record Straight

Photos from the April 28 game at Madison Square Garden showed Chalamet sitting with his legs wide apart, leading to accusations of 'manspreading' next to Fey, who sat upright. However, Fey insisted that appearances can be deceiving. 'I should start by saying that Timothée Chalamet was nothing but lovely. Super friendly,' she said, adding that his girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, was also 'delightful.'

Behind the Scenes

Fey explained that Chalamet spent much of the night joking with Tracy Morgan, her '30 Rock' co-star. She frequently attends Knicks games as Morgan's guest. Regarding the images, Fey noted she was unaware of the 'manspreading' discourse until the next day. She humorously added, 'For every amount that he's sitting like this and manspreading, I'm doing the opposite. I've got a big ol' can.'

Chalamet's Low Profile

After a divisive awards season, Chalamet has kept a low public profile ahead of his role in 'Dune: Part Three.' He was an Oscars front-runner for 'Marty Supreme' but lost to Michael B. Jordan. His interviews before the ceremony, where he embodied his character's smugness, drew criticism.

Fey's Knicks Fandom

Fey also discussed her pride in being a Knicks superfan, despite being from Philadelphia. 'It's really fun. That celebrity row is bananas,' she said. 'I'm hugging Spike Lee before the game... it is electric.'
