According to a new report, former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau wants pop star Katy Perry to live part of the year in Montreal and cheer for the Montreal Canadiens hockey team. The couple, who have been dating since last summer, are reportedly integrating their lives more closely.
Trudeau's New Home in Montreal
Trudeau purchased a $4.26-million home in Montreal's Outremont neighbourhood earlier this year. The house, built in the 1930s, boasts seven bedrooms and 5,000 square feet of floor space. Us Weekly reports that Trudeau wants Perry to spend part of the year living with him there. A source told the outlet, 'Justin is showing Katy his new home, where he wants her to live part of the year with him.' The source added that the home is 'large enough for a blended family' and located in a prestigious area where Trudeau previously lived.
Co-Parenting and Long-Distance Relationship
Perry shares a 5-year-old daughter, Daisy, with former fiance Orlando Bloom. She has established a co-parenting routine with Bloom in Montecito, California. A second insider revealed that Perry will not live in California exclusively, but she spends most of her time there unless touring. 'Orlando and Katy have a good rhythm with co-parenting, so that's where Katy spends the majority of her time unless she is travelling on tour,' the source said.
Trudeau and Perry have been managing a long-distance relationship, documented on social media. Perry accompanied Trudeau to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, earlier this year, and they attended Justin Bieber's Coachella performance in April. Recently, they were spotted in Montreal, where they 'lived like locals,' shopping for food, attending dinner parties, taking walks, and watching the Montreal Canadiens beat the Carolina Hurricanes.
Hockey Fandom and Family Integration
With the Canadiens out of the Stanley Cup playoffs, an informant stated that if Perry starts spending more time in Montreal, she will need to support the Habs. 'If Justin is Katy's 'love of her life,' then she must also love hockey, and especially the Habs,' the informant said. A confidante told the magazine that the couple are 'integrating their lives more and more,' with Perry introducing her daughter to Trudeau's children: Xavier, 18, Hadrien, 12, and Ella-Grace, 17. 'Their relationship has deepened over the past several months, and they are about to celebrate their one-year anniversary,' the leaker shared. 'They both feel it's important to blend their families thoughtfully and at a comfortable pace.'
Relationship Timeline
Trudeau and Perry first sparked dating rumors when they were spotted having dinner in Montreal last July. Shortly after, Trudeau was seen dancing and singing at Perry's concert at Montreal's Bell Centre, alongside his daughter, belting out Perry's 2010 hit 'Firework.' They were later photographed hugging and kissing aboard Perry's yacht in September, and celebrated Perry's 41st birthday at Crazy Horse Paris, leaving hand-in-hand and smiling. The couple went Instagram official in December. An insider told PEOPLE that the romance was a 'life twist' for Perry after her split from Bloom. A political source noted that Trudeau, who resigned as prime minister in January 2025 amid low public support, was enjoying the attention from the relationship, calling 'star f***ing' part of the Trudeau brand.
According to Us Weekly, Perry is 'really happy right now.' 'Katy loves that Justin laughs at her jokes and understands her quirky humour,' a source said. 'Her friends think he's a good match for her. The future is definitely something they've talked about, and they're both committed to seeing where this goes.'
