Trump Escalates Feud with Bruce Springsteen, Urges MAGA Boycott

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has unleashed a blistering social media attack on legendary rock musician Bruce Springsteen, calling for his Make America Great Again supporters to boycott the singer's concerts. The outburst comes after Springsteen criticized Trump's policies during the opening night of his Land of Hopes and Dreams Tour.

Trump's Scathing Social Media Post

In a lengthy Truth Social post, Trump described Springsteen as "a dried up prune who has suffered greatly from the work of a really bad plastic surgeon" and accused him of suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome. The former president wrote that Springsteen "spews hate against a President who won a Landslide Election" and urged his followers to avoid what he called "overpriced concerts, which suck."

Trump contrasted what he described as America's current prosperity under his leadership with what he claimed was economic stagnation during the Biden administration. "Under Sleepy Joe and the Dems, our Country was DEAD, and now we have the 'hottest' Country, by far, anywhere in the World," Trump wrote, adding, "MAGA SHOULD BOYCOTT HIS OVERPRICED CONCERTS. SAVE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY. AMERICA IS BACK!!!"

Springsteen's Political Commentary

The 76-year-old Springsteen, a 20-time Grammy winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, has been an outspoken critic of Trump for years. During his tour opener in Minneapolis, Springsteen told the crowd that the "White House is destroying the American idea and our reputation around the world."

According to a review published by Variety, Springsteen stated that America is now viewed by many as "reckless, unpredictable, predatory rogue nation" rather than "an often imperfect but strong defender of democracy." He accused Trump and his family of enriching themselves through corruption while working Americans struggle.

Longstanding Political Rivalry

The current exchange represents merely the latest chapter in a years-long feud between the iconic musician and the former president:

  • Springsteen supported Kamala Harris during the 2024 election and previously called Trump's first presidency a "f***ing nightmare"
  • In 2020, Springsteen told The Atlantic that Trump represented "a threat to our democracy"
  • During a 2018 Esquire interview, Springsteen said Trump was "deeply damaged at his core"
  • In 2016, Springsteen called Trump a "moron" in Rolling Stone and expressed fear about his "lasting effect on the country"

When touring Europe last summer, Springsteen described America as being led by a "corrupt, incompetent and treasonous administration" and said Trump has "no concern or idea of what it means to be deeply American."

Springsteen's Response to Criticism

Despite the political backlash, Springsteen has remained defiant. He told the Minnesota Star Tribune that his current tour is intentionally "political and very topical about what's going on in the country" and that he doesn't worry about losing fans who support Trump.

"My job is very simple: I do what I want to do, I say what I want to say and then people get to say what they want to say about it," Springsteen explained. "Those are the rules of my game. That's fine with me. I don't worry about if you're going to lose this part of your audience. The blowback is just part of it. I'm ready for all that."

The musician's comments about American history have also drawn attention, with Springsteen criticizing what he described as attempts to "whitewash American history of any unpleasant or inconvenient facts, like the full history of the brutality of slavery." He added, "You want to talk about snowflakes? We have a president who can't handle the truth."

As the political and cultural divide continues to manifest in the entertainment world, the Trump-Springsteen feud shows no signs of cooling, with both figures maintaining their positions and appealing to their respective bases through public platforms and social media.
