Tucker Carlson likened being around President Donald Trump to “smoking hash” in a new, wide-ranging interview with The New York Times. Carlson, a once staunch Trump loyalist turned MAGA critic, made the comparison during the interview that was published Saturday after claiming that nobody in the Trump administration has been “enthusiastically pushing this war [in Iran] on Trump.”
Carlson said the president has a kind of quality that’s “spellbinding.” “I think it probably literally is a spell,” Carlson said of Trump. “The effect is to weaken people around him and make them more compliant and more confused. And I’ve experienced this myself. You spend a day with Trump and sort of like you’re in this kind of dreamland. It’s like smoking hash or something. It’s interesting. Very interesting.”
Carlson claimed that “there may be a supernatural component to it.” “Anyone who’s been around him can tell you it’s real,” the former Fox News host added. Late last month, on his podcast “The Tucker Carlson Show,” Carlson claimed he would “be tormented” for a long time for supporting Trump and apologized for misleading people.
