Fox News host Jesse Watters engaged in a lengthy sexist rant disparaging former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Wednesday, claiming she will not be remembered when historians look back on this period of time. During an episode of “The Five,” Watters was discussing Clinton’s recent comments about former President Joe Biden’s decision to seek a second term.
Watters' Controversial Remarks
“Historians will look back in 100 years, they’re not gonna look at the fake news stuff that Jessica (Tarlov) traffics in every day,” Watters said. “They’re gonna see the big stuff, the world-defining moments, the rewiring of world trade, the crime, the economy, the border, what we’re doing internationally – that’s the stuff. Hillary Clinton is gonna be a footnote, and it’s just cause she’s a female.”
“Ahh, that’s terrible,” co-host Greg Gutfeld said sarcastically. “It’s true! What has she done?” Watters asked. “She’s just a female, that’s it, a female that does what men do.”
Tarlov's Rebuttal
Tarlov quickly clapped back at Watters, pointing out that Clinton was a U.S. senator and secretary of state. “That’s just a job,” Watters said. “How did she do at the job? Did she do a great job at the job? No, she did a terrible job! She did a terrible job! Just like many men have done terrible jobs at those same jobs.”
Tarlov seemed taken aback by Watters’s comments, saying, “This is beneath you.”
The exchange has drawn widespread criticism, with many accusing Watters of sexism and undermining Clinton’s significant political career. Clinton served as First Lady, U.S. Senator from New York, and Secretary of State under President Barack Obama.
