Seth Meyers Mocks Trump's Alleged Nodding Off in Public

Seth Meyers launched into a bombastic and hilariously sarcastic defense of President Donald Trump while airing a supercut of clips that appeared to show the president nodding off during public events.

Meyers' Mock Defense

"If there's one thing we know about Trump, it's that he's a keen judge of character," Meyers mockingly began the bit on Thursday's edition of "Late Night" as footage rolled of Trump's eyes repeatedly closing.

"He's always paying close attention to the habits and qualities of the people around him," Meyers continued. "We've all seen him in meetings razor sharp, laser focus, locking eyes with everyone around him, carefully scrutinizing every word and every gesture, taking the true measure of the men and the soon-to-be-fired women who make up his administration."

The comedian then ramped up the mock defense.

"Sure, to you, it looks like he's asleep," he said, "but everyone looks like they're sleeping when you're SO WOKE!"

Tongue-in-Cheek Explanations

Meyers later offered another tongue-in-cheek explanation for Trump's apparent shut-eye moments, which the White House has repeatedly denied.

"The point is, that's what Trump is doing in these meetings," said Meyers. "He's thinking so hard with his brain, it's draining energy from his eyelids. He's not sleeping. He's not sleeping."

The segment concluded with Meyers' signature wit, leaving the audience in laughter.
