Bright Lights Windsor Attracts Over 105,000 Visitors

The annual Bright Lights Windsor festival has wrapped up another spectacular season, with city officials estimating that more than 105,000 people visited the illuminated wonderland in Jackson Park. The event, which ran from November 28, 2025, to January 7, 2026, has solidified its place as a cherished winter tradition for the local community.

A Beloved Tradition Shines Bright

As workers began the careful process of dismantling the elaborate displays on Monday, January 12, 2026, the city reflected on the festival's success. Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens celebrated the event's impact, stating it has become a "truly special tradition for Windsorites." He highlighted the blend of new installations and returning favourite zones that made the latest edition another memorable experience for families across the region.

The festival's popularity remains consistently high, with this year's attendance mirroring the strong turnout from the previous season. Since its inception in 2017, Bright Lights Windsor has successfully transformed Jackson Park into a must-see holiday destination, featuring countless Christmas trees, intricate light displays, and seasonal entertainment.

New Features and Accessible Experiences

The 2025-2026 edition introduced several innovations aimed at enhancing visitor experience. New additions included a dedicated walking club, complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the park, and extended operating hours for the popular WE Made It: Holiday Market. Fresh light installations, such as family farm trees, dynamic firework lights, interactive light-up seesaws, and a large heart-shaped arch, added to the park's magical atmosphere.

Commitment to accessibility was also a key focus. The city offered guided mobility tours, allowing guests to experience the festival via golf cart. Furthermore, sensory-friendly "Silent Nights" were held every Monday evening, providing a quieter environment for those who need it.

Looking Ahead to the Future

With the festival now concluded, city crews are working to remove all displays and equipment from Jackson Park, weather permitting. The park will reopen in phases, with priority given to restoring public access to walking paths as quickly as possible.

The city is actively seeking feedback from this year's attendees through an online survey. Meanwhile, local entrepreneurs and artisans interested in becoming vendors for the Bright Lights Windsor 2026 festival are encouraged to contact the city. They can send an email to brightlights@citywindsor.ca to join the official mailing list for updates and application details.

The continued success of Bright Lights Windsor underscores its role as a cornerstone of Windsor's community spirit and seasonal celebrations, promising more light and joy for winters to come.
