Calgary Stampede Day 4: Legacy Breakfast, Jason Glass, Music Picks

The Calgary Stampede wrapped up its first weekend despite rain on Sunday, July 5, 2026, and is set for a sunny Monday with a high of 22°C. Day 4 on July 6 brings the new Legacy Breakfast, a heartfelt chuckwagon competition, and top music picks.

Legacy Breakfast Replaces Hays Breakfast

The Hays Breakfast has been reincarnated as the Legacy Breakfast, described by Mayor Jeromy Farkas as “a who’s who of Calgary.” The invitation-only event features prominent Calgarians, but numerous Stampede breakfasts remain open to the public across the city.

Jason Glass Competes with Heavy Heart

Past Rangeland Derby Champion Jason Glass is competing just over a week after losing his father, legend Tom Glass. Glass says he feels his father’s presence, and fellow chuckwagon drivers have taken steps to honour Tom. The competition continues as a tribute.

Showtime is 9 p.m. at the Big Four Roadhouse.

Bareback Rider Richmond Champion Retires a Winner

Richmond Champion, of Stevensville, MT, rode Shadow Warrior to win the day in the bareback event on Day 3, his final rodeo after a decorated 15-year career. “You can’t write this stuff, you know?” said Champion, fighting back tears. “I knew it was pretty slim chances to make it back to Showdown Sunday, so I had pretty full intentions of (Sunday) being the last one. And if it worked out differently, then great.”
