The holiday season in Edmonton is set to shine brighter as the highly anticipated Edmonton Christmas Market prepares to return to Fort Edmonton Park. This festive extravaganza, the largest of its kind in the province, will run for four weeks from November 29 to December 21, 2025.
A Winter Wonderland Returns
Organized by Kirsta Franke, the CEO and owner of Never Better Company, the market is now in its seventh season and marks its fourth year at the historic park. Franke expressed her long-standing vision to activate the city's spaces year-round, making a winter visit to Fort Edmonton Park a new and cherished tradition for residents.
With over 200 vendors, the market will transform nearly 10 acres of the park into a bustling hub of holiday cheer. Visitors can explore a diverse array of offerings, from unique handmade gifts and artisanal crafts to a wide selection of festive foods and traditional mulled wine.
Authentically Edmonton Festivities
While inspired by European Christmas markets, the event has evolved into something uniquely Edmontonian. Alongside classic treats, the food selection boasts global flavours like Filipino barbecue, ramen, pizza, and churros. The atmosphere will be enlivened by roving costumed characters, including Santas and Grinches, providing perfect photo opportunities for families.
Entertainment is a cornerstone of the experience. The Capitol Theatre will host a lineup of theatre and musical performances, following the success of two sold-out nights by Dan Mangan last year. A massive snow play area is also planned, offering space for snowman building and snowball fights, weather permitting.
A Major Undertaking for a Festive City
Franke and her team face a tight turnaround, with less than two weeks to set up one of the largest Christmas markets in Western Canada. This effort underscores a commitment to fostering community spirit and providing a compelling reason for people to embrace the outdoors during the winter months.
The Edmonton Christmas Market continues to be a signature event that blends shopping, dining, and entertainment, solidifying its place as a must-visit destination for spreading holiday cheer in the city.
