As the crisp November air settles across southwestern Ontario, communities throughout Windsor and Essex County are preparing to illuminate the night with spectacular holiday displays and festive celebrations that will run through early January.
Amherstburg River Lights Winter Festival
The holiday season officially begins in Amherstburg on November 15 when the River Lights Winter Festival transforms Toddy Jones Park and King's Navy Yard Park into twinkling wonderlands. The festival will continue through January 4, 2026, featuring playful light installations designed for family enjoyment along the scenic Detroit River waterfront.
Opening night festivities commence at 5 p.m. in downtown Amherstburg with the Super Santa 5K Run, Walk & Wheel event. The evening continues with the traditional tree-lighting ceremony, festive carolers, warming hot chocolate stations, and a brilliant fireworks display to cap off the celebrations.
LaSalle Holiday Lights Heritage Nights
The LaSalle Civic Centre at 5950 Malden Road will become a magical holiday destination from November 21 through January 4. Visitors can experience numerous light displays, including an impressive forty-foot walk-through tree that serves as a centerpiece attraction.
The lights will illuminate nightly from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., with LaSalle Mayor Meloche leading the official countdown for the tree-lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. on opening night. Each weekend throughout November and December, an indoor holiday market will offer seasonal shopping opportunities for visitors.
Kingsville Fantasy of Lights
Lakeside Park in Kingsville will dazzle visitors with more than 50 spectacular light displays from November 15 to January 6. Weekend visitors can enjoy complimentary rides aboard the Kingsville Express Train, which travels through the illuminated park grounds.
The festival kicks off with the Fantasy of Lights Parade on November 15, while a special New Year's Eve celebration at the Kingsville Arena on December 31 will feature free skating, hot chocolate, and festive crafts. Music lovers can mark their calendars for the annual Fantasy of Lights concert on December 21.
Bright Lights Windsor Returns to Jackson Park
Windsor's signature holiday event, Bright Lights Windsor, will make its annual return to Jackson Park in downtown Windsor from November 28 through January 7. The festival features elaborate light installations, showcases local talent, and includes multiple themed areas that create immersive holiday experiences.
