Angine de Poitrine to Play Edmonton's Ice District July 8

Global viral music sensation Angine de Poitrine has finally filled the Alberta-shaped hole in its touring schedule with its only date in the province so far, July 8 in the new The Tent in Ice District's Fan Park in Edmonton.

The enigmatic Quebec microtonal duo has felt like a delightful bucking of effortless-to-reproduce AI slop with its weird time signatures, high-energy freak rock, following in the footsteps of King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, GWAR and Japanese polka-dot visual artist Yayoi Kusama while also being something utterly new and unique.

Unique Appeal and Persona

A big part of the spectacularly-costumed Saguenay band's appeal is its inherently anti-celebrity status in a Kermit the Frog eclipsing a willing Jim Henson sort of way. Playing under pseudonyms – double-necked guitarist Khn de Poitrine and drummer Klek de Poitrine – the papier-mâché be-masked personas speak gibberish in interviews, thoughtfully subtitled and noting the entire project is a sort of an Andy Kaufman-esque joke in service of the love of rock and roll.

Rise to Fame

Slowly gaining affection from anyone who saw a clip of them online, a live session recorded at L.A. KEXP last year took them into the multi-millions of views and bar conversations. As Pitchfork noted of their second album released in April, they managed to take some of the unsexiest music in history and give it the type of groove that renders it undeniable.

Concert Details

Tickets for what could be one of the weirdest and most fun all-ages gigs of the year, pre-sales starting 10 a.m. Wednesday using the code PRESS at ticketmaster.ca, while public sales start 10 a.m. Friday. This is a rare opportunity to witness a truly original act that defies easy categorization, blending avant-garde musicality with theatrical performance art.

The duo's live shows are known for their chaotic energy and immersive experience, drawing fans from diverse musical backgrounds. With their growing online presence and critical acclaim, this Edmonton concert promises to be a standout event of the summer.
