Chet Hanks, the 35-year-old son of Hollywood stars Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, has traded a traditional home for a Jayco Eagle RV in a Nashville trailer park. The actor and musician revealed his unconventional living situation during an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday, explaining that he moved to Nashville to pursue a career in country music with his band, Something Out West.

Why a Trailer Park?

Hanks told Fallon that he decided against renting an apartment in Nashville because he already owns a condo in Los Angeles. "I didn't want to do that again, and I didn't want to furnish it," he said. Initially, he stayed in hotels and rental homes, but those temporary accommodations quickly became tiresome. Inspired by a trip in Northern California where he lived in an Airstream, Hanks opted for a mobile home, which he says has "everything you need."

He praised the amenities of his RV, including a kitchen and a walk-in shower, which he called "a big deal in trailers." The experience has also changed his perception of trailer parks. "I'm probably the youngest person in the trailer park by 30 or 40 years," Hanks joked, noting that his neighbors are mostly retirees and "great people." He added that the stereotype of trailer parks being "sketchy" is unfounded.

Life in the RV

Despite the rustic setting, Hanks enjoys having his own space. He has set up a fire pit outside and often spends his time indoors watching Netflix. "Most of the time, I just do exactly what I do at home, which is just stay inside and lay in bed and watch Netflix," he shared.

Country Music Ambitions

Hanks' move to Nashville is driven by his musical aspirations. His band, Something Out West, recently performed at the Stagecoach music festival, where his father Tom Hanks was in the audience cheering him on. This marks a significant step in his country music career.

Recent Travel Troubles

Earlier this year, Hanks faced travel complications after being stuck in Colombia following a stop in Puerto Rico for a friend's birthday. He explained that he was traveling with his Greek passport because his U.S. passport was about to expire, according to Yahoo! News.

Background

Chet Hanks, known for his role in the Netflix series Running Point, has previously made headlines for his outspoken views and his viral song "White Boy Summer." He has discussed the challenges of growing up with famous parents, calling it a "double-edged sword."

Despite his famous lineage, Hanks is determined to carve his own path in Nashville, living modestly in a trailer park while pursuing his passion for country music.
