Windsor's only community-accessible Steinway grand piano will come alive this weekend with the sounds of legendary musicians, performed by acclaimed artist David Faulkner.
An Evening of Musical Legends
David Faulkner, a professional musician with over three decades of experience, will present Music in Motion this Saturday evening. The performance features an eclectic mix of jazz standards and popular piano selections from some of music's most iconic figures.
The concert will include works by John Lennon and Paul McCartney, alongside classics from Nat King Cole, George Gershwin, Cole Porter, and Duke Ellington. Faulkner, who primarily performs in Detroit, expressed excitement about the intimate Windsor venue.
Historic Instrument in Community Space
The performance will take place at Sho Art Spirit and Performance, a not-for-profit arts organization located in Walkerville at 628 Monmouth Road. Faulkner will play on a Model M Steinway grand piano built around 1926.
This historic instrument was purchased in 2018 by the Windsor Endowment for the Arts, a charitable organization that supports local artists. The piano was specifically acquired for community use and is housed at Sho Art Studios.
Rare Access to Premium Instrument
This Steinway represents one of very few such pianos available for public enjoyment in Windsor. While the Windsor Symphony Orchestra owns another Steinway, purchased in 2017 through a $225,000 donation from the family of classical music enthusiast Joyce Weingarden, that instrument is not available for community rentals.
Adding to the multi-sensory experience, visual artist Neli Torres will display works that connect thematically with the evening's musical selections.
David Faulkner's Music in Motion begins at 8 p.m. on Saturday at Sho Art Spirit and Performance. Tickets are priced at $25 and available in advance through eventbrite.ca or at the door with cash or card payment.
